In addition to economic development initiatives, the DDA focuses on quality of life enhancements. Events are an important component in building a healthy and sustainable community.

The Huizenga Plaza on the southeast corner of Las Olas and Andrews is owned and operated by the DDA. Outdoor events are held at the plaza on a regular basis. DDA SPONSORED EVENTS

Boat Parade Family Fun Event

Each year, the DDA holds a family fun event in the Huizenga Plaza during the Fort Lauderdale Boat Parade held the 2nd Saturday of December. This past year, the DDA cosponsored the event with Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization offering free activities for kids and adults! From bounce houses to homemade snow to movies and concerts, it is sure to be an event for the whole family! Check back towards the end of the year for details of the upcoming December 2010 event!

Backyard Bash

 
Frequent celebrations are planned to be held in the new Peter Feldman Park, in honor of the late DDA Board Member who helped envision the neighborhood, as well as the residents and businesses that have made it a reality. The first bash on April 29th had a great turnout and the next one is scheduled for Friday, June 25th from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. FIND US ON FACEBOOK!!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

 
After an 18 year hiatus, the Fort Lauderdale Saint Patrick's Day Parade and Festival came back! Held on March 13th, The DDA and the City of Fort Lauderdale co-hosted this authentic and family-oriented event. There were over 200 parade entries, with over 2,000 participants. With close to 20,000 attendees, the event was extremely successful and far exceeded the anticipated attendance! Planning efforts for next year's event will start later on this year.
