Sunday Jazz Brunch        

Next Date: August 6th

SunTrust, Riverwalk and City of Fort Lauderdale sponsor this free event along the Riverwalk, by the Historic District in Downtown on the first Sunday of every month, from 11am-2pm. This monthly event features some of South Florida's finest bands performing a wide range of jazz and other themed concerts. Picnic baskets, blankets, chairs, dogs and kids welcome. The Spirit of Fort Lauderdale Fountain at Huizenga Plaza      

Schedule of Music:

Mon-Fri: 7:30-8:30 am, 12 noon - 1pm, 5-6pm and every hour thereafter on the hour until 9pm. At all other times the fountain will be on and interactive.
Sat & Sun: 9am-9pm. Every hour, on the hour, the fountain will play music for 30 minutes. At all other times the fountain will be interactive.
The music includes a mix of classical, swing, jazz and soft rock.

Museum of Discovery and Science

Exhibits  - Runways to Rockets - interactive exhibit allowing students to learn about space and how scientists learn about space.

Electric Space - The Space Science Institute, in partnership with the Franklin Institute Science Museum, has developed a major hands-on exhibition called Electric Space: Bolts, Jolts, and Volts from the Sun that is the centerpiece of a wide-ranging education effort in space science.  Visitors to the 3800 square foot (350 square meter) exhibition explore the Sun and how our closest star can cause Earth's largest light show: the polar aurora. They also learn about "space weather" and the effect it has on technology, as well as on humans working in space. Cinema Paradiso

 

The Fort Lauderdale International Film Fest has officially opened it's year-round art house theatre called Cinema Paradiso. The former church and Vinnette Carroll Theatre has been retrofitted into a movie theatre with 35mm film, 16mm film and video projection. The cafe serves wine, beer and popcorn! Free parking is available at the County parking garage just down the block.
