SW 2 Avenue Streetscape.

The DDA partnered with the City of Fort Lauderdale and other area stakeholders on a streetscape improvement project along SW 2 Avenue between West Broward Boulevard and SW 2 Street/Himmarshee Street. Previously in poor condition, SW 2 Avenue serves as a physical and visual connection between the Brightline Station, the Arts and Entertainment (A&E) and Historic Districts, DowntownFTL and the Riverwalk. The DDA's goal was not only to improve the safety and aesthetics of the corridor, but also improve the quality of life for the area businesses. Improvements installed as part of this project include: wider sidewalks, reduced vehicular presence, lighting, landscaping, drainage, and artistic elements.
The SW 2 Avenue Streetscape Project was funded utilizing two federal streetscape grants from the US Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration. Broward County Transit is the direct recipient of the grant and  a project partner.
