The new Baptist Health IcePlex has become one of Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s top attractions since its grand opening to the public in early April. Building off the excitement from the Florida Panthers playoff run, according to data from Placer.ai, the IcePlex has hosted more than 30,000 people since it opened.
From playoff watch parties to learn to play programs and from open skating sessions to the opening of a new restaurant, The Federal, the IcePlex has quickly emerged as one of Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s top destinations.
By The Numbers:
25% of all visits are by Downtown Fort Lauderdale residents.
45% of all visits are from outside the City of Fort Lauderdale and 12% are from outside Broward County.
Since the IcePlex’s opening, the number of visitors coming to experience Holiday Park has increased by more than 15% since last year.
Set in Holiday Park adjacent to both the Flagler Village and Victoria Park neighborhoods, the Baptist Health IcePlex is easily connected to everything that Downtown Fort Lauderdale has to offer.
Some of the world’s best hockey players are finding new ways to get to practice according to a report from the Florida Panthers and NHL. “I took the golf cart and was one of a handful of guys who did that,” said Matthew Tkachuk. “We have a very unique players’ parking lot out there. There are a couple of cars, some e-bikes, some golf carts. We have a little bit of everything.”
Coming Soon to Holiday Park
With the opening of the revitalized War Memorial Auditorium expected by the end of the year, Holiday Park will continue to emerge as a place to be. Building on this momentum, the YMCA of South Florida will build a new state-of-the art facility just steps from the IcePlex. With the Y partnering with Broward Health to build a 12,000 square foot emergency medical center, new sports, health, and wellness amenities are moving Downtown Fort Lauderdale to the next level.
