This July, the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority (DDA) proudly partnered with DowntownFTL office buildings to support National Feed A Rescue Pet Week—a nationwide effort to combat shelter shortages and uplift rescue animals.

Held annually during the third week of July, National Feed A Rescue Pet Week brings together cities, businesses, and communities to collect essential supplies for animal shelters and rescues. With an estimated 5.8 million cats and dogs entering U.S. shelters in 2024—and more than 600,000 euthanized due to overcrowding and resource constraints—the need for donations and support has never been more urgent.
From July 14th-18th, the DDA teamed up with The Main Las Olas, Las Olas Centre, and AutoNation office buildings in Downtown Fort Lauderdale to collect food, toys, treats, leashes, collars, blankets, and more.
The impact, by the numbers:
3 local animal shelters supported
500+ pounds of dog and cat food
200+ toys to bring comfort and play
50+ pounds of tasty treats shared
50 leashes and collars to keep pets safe and stylish
And so much more, thanks to our community's generosity!

The DDA delivered these generous donations to our local partners at Broward Animal Care, Abandoned Pet Rescue, and the Humane Society of Broward County, helping to feed, comfort, and care for the animals that make Fort Lauderdale such a compassionate and vibrant community.
Huge thanks to Stiles and Bradford Allen for teaming up with us to support a great cause—and to everyone who donated supplies for our local animal shelters. Your generosity made a real difference and helps to strengthen our community!
