Las Olas Enters a New Chapter

July 30, 2026

For decades, Las Olas Boulevard has been the beating heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale—a destination that reflects the city's energy, growth, and evolving identity. A recent Sun Sentinel feature highlighted 11 new restaurants expected to open on or near Las Olas Boulevard over the coming months, adding to a thriving dining scene.

Among the most anticipated openings are NAIA from The Restaurant People, breakfast and brunch spot Little Hen, Lebanese dining destination Amal, Italian gem Le Felicità, ultra-lux Caviar Club from restaurateur Marc Falsetto, and Sweetwaters, a waterfront dining destination from the owners of Miami's iconic Rusty Pelican that will open at Huizenga Park this fall. Together, these concepts—and many others on the horizon—reflect growing confidence in Las Olas Boulevard as one of South Florida's premier culinary destinations.

  • The influx of new restaurants comes as Las Olas is already experiencing remarkable momentum. Pedestrian foot traffic on Las Olas Boulevard has increased by 19% since 2021 and now exceeds five million annual visits, reflecting the continued growth of Downtown Fort Lauderdale's residential population, employment base, and visitor economy.

A local authorized Rolex retailer has received approval for a flagship store on Las Olas Boulevard—just steps from the area’s first planned luxury boutique hotel. The move underscores a broader shift underway in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, where global brands are increasingly recognizing the corridor’s untapped spending power and long-term growth potential.

Building on this momentum, the City of Fort Lauderdale is advancing plans to redesign Las Olas to create a stronger pedestrian experience, including wider sidewalks and an expanded shade canopy supported by more than 90 new trees, signaling a clear investment in a more walkable street.

All in all, this news is a reflection of growing confidence in Downtown Fort Lauderdale and the long-term strength of Las Olas Boulevard as a destination. Great streets succeed when they become places people want to return to again and again. With rising foot traffic, significant investment on the way, and the growing draw of Huizenga Park, Las Olas is demonstrating exactly why it remains the heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
