Giving Tuesday with Huizenga Park

November 27, 2023

Each year communities across the country come together on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving to celebrate Giving Tuesday. This edition of the FTL Focus highlights Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s Huizenga Park Reimagined in advance of this special day.

Tomorrow, join us in celebrating Giving Tuesday with Huizenga Park at The Main Las Olas between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The DDA and Huizenga Park Foundation are bringing together downtown residents and employees to celebrate Huizenga Park Reimagined.

The DDA and Huizenga Park Foundation are building Downtown Fort Lauderdale’s signature gathering space in honor of entrepreneurs and community builders like Wayne and Marti Huizenga that paved the way for our city’s success. Connecting Community Leaders Across Multiple Generations

With the spirit of giving at the heart of this project, the upcoming $15 million transformation of Huizenga Park celebrates how community leaders across multiple generations are giving back in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Wayne and Marti were dreamers and doers who inspired so many in our community to dream big and give back. It’s so rewarding to see established leaders and philanthropists follow in their footsteps to give back to the community they love.

Building Downtown Fort Lauderdale's Signature Park

The new park design features a series of outdoor rooms that will transform the site into our city’s outdoor living room, dining room, and backyard – all in one. Whether you are relaxing underneath the cityscape, hanging out with friends, grabbing a quick bite to eat, enjoying a movie under the stars, taking your dog out to play, or spending time with family along the river’s edge, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

We’re thankful that so many community leaders believe in this vision and have given the gift of a world-class park to future generations. To learn more about the transformation of Huizenga Park, contact info@huizengapark.org or visit huizengapark.org/support.
